Sports photography can be a beautiful craft when all the variables come together. Positioning, lighting, action and camera setting mix together to create a wonderful piece of art. Cincinnati Soccer Talk’s photography staff deliver these masterpieces week in and week out. We are five months into the 2024 campaign. Let’s take a look at some of Cincinnati Soccer Talk photography staff’s favorite images up to this point and their thoughts about them.

‘This image was captured at Washington Park as the Bailey gathered and prepared for their march to TQL Stadium. It was FC Cincinnati’s home opener against Toronto FC. I anticipated that the march from Washington Park to TQL would draw a large crowd, as it was the first home game of the season. However, I underestimated the number of people who showed up, sang and danced, anticipating another strong season. In the midst of the singing and dancing, a gentleman wielded a sword, demonstrating the strength of the Bailey. A megaphone showcased the voice of the fans, and a Cincinnati flag represented the unity of the city. I chose this image as my favorite photo of the season so far because it creatively tells the story of this awesome team!
*Note – I always end up with goosebumps while taking pictures when I hear Shalala!’

‘One characteristic of the photography I try to produce is to get the viewer closer to the action. This image is one of my favorites so far this season because it provides a different perspective for fans. My hope is that it conveys the level of difficulty and amount of work Roman is encountering in the challenge to successfully make this save. Going further, the framing of the composition isn’t ideal, but I think it reinforces that not all things have to be perfect to work.’
