New Forward to Join FC Cincinnati?

After the suspensions of Forwards Djiby Fall (6 matches) and Andy Craven (4 matches), it looks like GM Jeff Berding and Head Coach Alan Koch have been working to fill their void. First reported by Nipun Chopra (@NipunChopra7) on SocTakes.com, FCC look to be bringing in OKC Energy FC Forward Danni König.

Cincinnati Soccer Talk has confirmed with a source that talks are still ongoing, but are very close to completion. Chopra reports that König will not be signed in time to appear in this weekend’s match in Richmond. FC Cincinnati has tomorrow scheduled as a travel day and terms at this point are incomplete.

König is a big body who fits the mold of Djiby standing at 6’2″. The Danish Forward has an impressive resume with 58 professional goals in 188 appearances between teams in Norway, Denmark and the US. In his tenure with OKC, König has notched 26 goals in 61 appearances. His stats in 2016 dropped off significantly to 4 goals and 4 assists from 22 goals in 2015.

Rumors out of OKC were that Coach Jimmy Nielsen had been looking to replace the 30 year old König and this could mean his time there had run out.

According to additional sources, an additional FC Cincinnati player acquisition could be on the way as well.

This story will be updated.
