CST Roundtable: FC Cincinnati Christmas Wish Lists

CST Roundtable: FC Cincinnati Wish Lists

CST Roundtable: FC Cincinnati Wish ListsSince we’re just a couple of days away from Christmas, we thought this week we’d sit around the old roundtable and discuss some of our biggest wishes for FC Cincinnati in the 2017 year.

What’s at the top of your FC Cincinnati Christmas wish list?

Bryan Weigel
An MLS bid would be nice. Team # 24 has a good ring to it.

Yosief Tzeghai
A shiny new striker is at the top of my list. MLS seems to have settled the majority of the roster shuffling for this off season. FCC has a clearer picture for who they can target.

Bryan Weigel
In all seriousness, I would love a fast right back to overlap with Kadeem Dacres. If Harkes can manage to combine the clubs newest addition, with another pacey player, teams will have to shade to the side of the field and allow the left flank more room to operate. I agree with Yosief that a striker is a must, but I could see FCC picking one up late in pre season. Several strikers could find themselves in Okoli’s situation after not making an MLS final roster.

Nick Seuberling
The first item on my FC Cincinnati Wish list is a USL Championship trophy being hoisted at Nippert Stadium next fall.

Bryan Weigel
You would rather be USL champ than team 24?

Nick Seuberling
Yes, only because this city is desperate for a championship. I also say that because Team 24 is Miami.

Bryan Weigel
I see your point there, but MLS teams 24, 25 & 26 should be announced by then, so I hope we will have heard some good news.

Nick Seuberling
The 2nd item on my FC Cincinnati wish list? Buy Wayne Rooney from Manchester United. Hey, I said it was a WISH list. Lastly, my third and final item on my FC Cincinnati wish list is for the club to go out and smash their own attendance records from last year.

Bryan Weigel
Amen to that! I really hope that FCC adds a high profile player. Not sure how high we can go, but I wouldn’t mind a visible signing.

Bill Wolf
Hmmmmm…….. I think for me I’d like to see a resolution to the NASL mess. I feel like the USL is on hold at this point. No schedules. Probably even player signings…. all waiting to see if NASL survives and what division everyone is in. Guess I want to open my present this year……

Nick Seuberling
Ok I have one more on my wish list. I want FC Cincinnati to be the league leaders in goals scored this season.

Boston Brazzell
I’m with Seubs, Championship first. But I also wouldn’t mind some more FCC gear under the tree. Maybe those beer glasses.

Brad Weigel
I would like to have the plot of land figured out for a SSS. Without that I feel it will be difficult to get into MLS.

Bill Wolf
Agreed Brad but maybe we already have that. Don’t think FCC is going to spoil that surprise!

If FC Cincinnati were to host another International Friendly next summer, which club would you most like to see visit Nippert?

Bill Wolf
Nippert definitely limits it. Would love to see a huge name but we’d have to do Paul Brown for Barcelona (my first choice).

Yosief Tzeghai
I’d love to see Liverpool come to town. My favorite EPL club facing off against my favorite local club would be a dream come true. I definitely agree with Bill. I love attending games at Nippert, but to be a truly successful event the match will most likely need a bigger venue. We want to show off Cincinnati packing as large of a stadium as possible.

Brad Weigel
Boy oh boy, I think my answer might offend some people because I’m a huge Tottenham fan and of course I’d love to see them. So going away from my homer pick I’d like to see anybody but Arsenal!

Bill Wolf
Nothing says we can’t do both. I feel like an international friendly in PB would be good but it could be Liverpool v Barcelona.

Nick Seuberling
A lot of you will assume I’d say Manchester United, of course I’d love for them to come to Cincy. BUT, with our city’s German heritage, I would love it if Bayern Munich or Dortmund would come to town, frankly any team from the Bundesliga for that matter.

Bill Wolf
We aren’t going to get those teams to play FCC I don’t think.

Boston Brazzell
I would take any German team because I feel that is fan base the club has not fully explored. I also would like to see the club play some Dayton friendlies in Dayton to work on the fan base up there.

Bill Wolf
I think we should reach out to Swansea. Again I think a lower EPL team,is the right level.

Nick Seuberling
Maybe they can come up to Toledo to play Toledo United, work on the fan base here? HA!

Brad Weigel
Whoever we get needs to have the cache to match our intense momentum.

Bryan Weigel
I love that idea Boston! Especially if we hope to be in MLS some day.

Nick Seuberling
This has Sunderland written all over it doesn’t it Bryan? But I think we’d prefer a Premier League team, not a Championship side……

Bryan Weigel
No I was going to say that an educated guess would be one of the clubs Berding visited this offseason?

Nick Seuberling
I could see a club like Ajax coming over here.

Bryan Weigel
I would like to see Hamburg as well. Bobby Wood!

What is the ONE matchup you are looking forward to in 2017?

Nick Seuberling
I’m pretty sure we’re all looking forward to facing Louisville again and keeping the Cup in the Queen City.

Bill Wolf
Indy

Boston Brazzell
If we get Indy then Indy. If not Indy then it goes back to Louisville. I really enjoyed the trip last year and despite the crap they throw on twitter, they were pretty cool to hang with before hand.

Bryan Weigel
I want St. Louis. They are our potential rival in getting an MLS franchise, plus they have Preki, who may rank just below Harkes in prestige. Lots of hype around that club and I want to destroy them.

Brad Weigel
I think you all are setting your sights too low and can’t wait until we kick the crap out of Crew SC in the US Open Cup! I really enjoyed the banter with the folks from the “Hell is Real” Derby. Hopefully this time they won’t try to make us play in the middle school ball yard.

Boston Brazzell
The St. Louis games were so boring last year though. I guess I wouldn’t mind it if they get some more fans.

Brad Weigel
I think we needs to spice that relationship up with a… road trip to show MLS just how casual Saint Louis FC fans are.

Bill Wolf
Crew would be fun for sure. Last year I was not so sure if we could really compete though. If we pull in a serious striker I’d like to see that game.
