The first off-season move for the Orange & Blue occurred on Friday afternoon with a press release from FC Cincinnati stating that Asst. Coach Ryan Martin will be pursuing new opportunities in 2017.
The Press Release issued by Director of Public Relations Fumi Kimura, features a quote from Jeff Berding thanking the Columbus, Ohio native for his time with the club.
“After speaking with Ryan, he has chosen to explore other opportunities in soccer,” said Berding. “We thank Ryan for the work he did in helping our club achieve success in our inaugural year and wish him all the best in the future.”
Coach Martin played an instrumental part in bringing several of his former college players (Corben Bone & Sean Okoli) to FC Cincinnati. Previous coaching stops for Martin include Ohio Wesleyan University, Wake Forest University and Columbus Crew SC.
Ryan Martin was also an All-American player at Ohio Wesleyan in 2005 and spent one season with MLS club Real Salt Lake.
No replacement appointments were mentioned and Coach John Harkes was not quoted in the press release.
As a friend of CST and a guest of the podcast, we wish Coach Martin well in his future endeavors.
