UPDATE: FC Cincinnati has formally announced the trade for Inter Miami right back DeAndre Yedlin, as FCC sends back $172,799 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM).

“We’re excited to welcome DeAndre and his family to Cincinnati,” Chris Albright, FC Cincinnati general manager, said. “He is a natural leader who will add valuable experience and quality to our group. We are confident he will be a great fit for us on and off the field, and we look forward to him joining us.”

ORIGINAL STORY: FC Cincinnati has reportedly traded for Inter Miami CF right back DeAndre Yedlin for a reported fee of $172k in General Allocation Money, according to Pat Brennan of the Cincinnati Enquirer, with The Athletic’s Tom Bogert reporting the trade’s fee details.

The 30-year-old American will be an FCC player for the next two years, as his contract runs until the end of the 2025 season.

Yedlin has spent the last three seasons, this year included, with Inter Miami where he was the team’s starting right back. In those seasons, he played the vast majority of matches, including playing in all 34 matches in the 2022 season.

That 2022 was his high watermark with Miami, as he had four assists. In 2023, Yedlin had only two assists and appeared in 28 matches. Yedlin has also made three appearances with Miami this season, tallying no assists so far.

Prior to joining Inter Miami, Yedlin had a significant European stint. Yedlin moved overseas after two seasons with the Seattle Sounders ending in the 2014 season, after which he Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Yedlin did not make his mark with Spurs, and played the 2015/16 season with Sunderland AFC before moving to Newcastle United where he truly made his name. Yedlin played a total of five seasons in black and white, logging a total of 1,800 minutes in four of those seasons.

Yedlin moved on to Galatasaray of the Süper Lig in Turkey during the 2020/21 season, his last club prior to moving to Inter Miami.

Yedlin has also played significant minutes in the Stars and Stripes. He has donned the red, white and blue jersey for a total of 81 appearances, bagging eight assists in that time.

While Yedlin’s best years might be behind him according to some in the CST sphere, he brings some definite experience and helps strengthen the depth at the fullback position.
