Rumor Confirmed: Forrest Lasso to FC Cincinnati

CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com’s Boston Brazzell had tweeted over that weekend of a plan to bring former Charleston Battery player, Forrest Lasso, to FC Cincinnati. That move was confirmed this morning as FC Cincinnati announced Lasso would be joining the club for the 2018 season.

Lasso played 27 games for the Battery in 2017 as a defender and has been with the club since 2015. He is a product of the NCFC academy system. Lasso was a key piece of the Charleston defense logging 72.1% passing accuracy and successfully making 78.3% of his tackles. This is an area FC Cincinnati defenders struggled with last season. At 6 ft 5 inches, Forrest Lasso headed in 4 four goals and kicked in another two in 2017. If his name sounds familiar, it is because Lasso scored with a header in FC Cincinnati’s first match of 2017. I watched in person as a corner kick flew in during the 38th minute and connected with Forrest for the goal. Charleston would go on to win that match 2-1.

Lasso will be a strong addition to the FC Cincinnati back line and also add an aerial threat to the team. He is the third center back signing of the offseason and FCC has announced Dekel Keinan (Maccabi Haifa) and Paddy Barrett (Dundalk FC).

Forrest Lasso played well enough in 2017 to earn USL honors by being selected to the 2017 USL All-League first team. An honor he shared with one FC Cincinnati player, Delbridge.

The newest defender seems to be a high character guy. Check out his letter to the fans of Charleston Battery upon the announcement.
