The highs and lows from the past week indicate that there is a lot to polish on this FC Cincinnati squad before the Leagues Cup. Much can be said about “highs” and “lows” describing the last time the Orange & Blue clashed against this week’s opponent, the San Jose Earthquakes.
Back in 2024, Cincinnati pulled off an incredible come-from-behind effort at San Jose, riding a Yuya Kubo hat trick off the bench. However, that was the last match with Matt Miazga, who was lost for the season due to a knee injury.
Since then, the Quakes have retooled the front office, and that influx of positivity has been felt in the roster. 2025 was a bounce-back season for San Jose behind Bruce Arena, and 2026 has started with just as much momentum, despite an injury list that has taken vital spots off the roster.
