Soccer is a great game. It has brought many of us together in elation and in sadness. The game has brought many great players to our city to wear the Orange & Blue.
It was with great sadness when we learned of the passing of FC Cincinnati and LDU Quito midfielder Marco Angulo on Monday night. Angulo, 22, was injured following a car crash on October 7th.

“It is with profound pain and sadness that we bring you the news of the death of our player, Marco Angulo,” per an LDU Quito statement.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. His departure is an irreparable loss that will leave an indelible mark on our hearts. May he rest in peace.”
Angulo featured in 33 matches for FC Cincinnati in 2023. The midfielder was included in the matchday squad for the clubs 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup match vs. Cavalier FC in Jamaica on February 22nd before a loan to LDU Quito was arranged.
While at Quito, Angulo would make 20 appearances including 3 starts in Copa Libertadores. His final appearance would be off the bench in a home match vs. Orense SC, a day prior to the crash.
Angulo will be remembered for more than just his time on the field. He was a joyful individual who celebrated the success of his teammates and the group. Angulo was a fixture signing autographs for fans following matches and his exuberance in thanking supporters in post match celebrations. He was a contributor on an amazing Supporters Shield winning side and 2023 and will not soon be forgotten.
