Growler Cup: Matchday 10- FC Cincinnati vs Bethlehem Steel FC

2017 Growler Cup

2017 Growler Cup

Last Saturday, FC Cincinnati had a disappointing showing in a 2-0 loss to a Orlando City B team that featured 7 starters with MLS contracts. Things don’t get much easier for the Orange & Blue this week as 8th place Bethlehem Steel FC comes to Nippert. Bethlehem had the better of FCC twice this season and will look to try and sweep the season series Saturday night. Each and every game we do our best to predict the outcome of the FC Cincinnati match. Here’s how some of the staff here at CST feel things will transpire when the Orange & Blue face the Steel.

Bryan Weigel

Will the magic of the cup continue onto league play? After a hard fought 120′ match on Wednesday, several key players will have to go on short rest. Delbridge, McLaughlin, Bond and Dacres all logged key minutes in the win and must continue to perform Saturday. Bethlehem has our number. Their pace and intensity is tough to match. I still think we pull out a point at home in front of a great crowd Saturday. I’m picking a low scoring 1-1 draw.

Boston Brazzell

This team is not an easy one to predict scores for. My heart tells me we will get out of the spiral this week but my brain sees two losses against Bethlehem. There is one change this week. Steel FC need to come into Nippert and win away from home. I hope to see Koch mix it up this Saturday as the Bethlehem Steel seem to have FC Cincinnati all figured out. I predict FC Cincinnati finally gets a couple of those shot home. 2-0 FC Cincinnati win.

Bryan Griffin

Facing familiar foes, Cincinnati will host Bethlehem Steel. A club that seems to have the orange and blue’s number early in the season. We will see possession, we will see defending, but will we see finishing? I’m not confident in their ability in the final third.  I see FCC coming out with a tie 1-1 Saturday against BSFC.

Ken Hoetker

This is a difficult thing to say but FCC needs to start making their own luck.  Teams may get lucky every now and then, but you can neither be lucky or unlucky all the time.  Regardless of bad refereeing (most USL games), fluke goals (Richmond) or just unfortunate to not be able to put one away (Bethlehem 2nd game) this team needs to find a way to win and until they start creating their own luck I am going to roll with, we are the unluckiest team in Soccer and predict a 1-0 Loss.

Other Staff Picks: Yosief 2-1, Seubs 2-1, Bill 2-0, Brad 2-0
