FC Cincinnati continued its undefeated preseason in Indianapolis today with a 1-1 draw against NASL side Indy Eleven. The match was closed to the public as both teams continue preparations for their regular season.
After a scoreless first half, Luke Spencer scored FC Cincinnati’s only goal in the 64th minute. The goal came only 8 minutes after Spencer entered the game as a substitute. It was Spencer’s third goal in four preseason matches. Indy Eleven equalized in the 85th minute through a headed goal from Irish forward Eamon Zayed. FC Cincinnati started many of the same names that featured in the recent IMG Academy tournament in Florida. One notable exception was Dallas Jaye, who got the start today at goalkeeper. The Xavier product and Northern California native featured for 90 minutes. The game saw several substitutions as one would expect from a preseason match. Another notable substitute for FC Cincinnati was former UC star and MLS veteran Omar Cummings, who saw his first playing time in a FC Cincinnati uniform. Cummings has been recovering from an offseason injury and the club has been taking a conservative approach with his return.
The FC Cincinnati starting 11 set up in a 4-2-3-1.
