FC Cincinnati ended the Secondary Transfer Window with a flurry of activity that sees the return of Brenner and a swap for right backs as Deandre Yedlin departs for Real Salt Lake and Polish International Dominik Marczuk joins the Orange and Blue.
On Wednesday August 20th, it was reported by Tom Bogert of GiveMeSport, that Yedlin had been traded to Real Salt Lake. The veteran right wing back joined FC Cincinnati in 2024 and had been a staple of the backline with 22 starts in the 2025 season. Yedlin was nearing the end of his contract for Cincinnati, and he was able to sign a long term deal with Salt Lake upon the trade. In return for trading Yedlin FC Cincinnati received $304.7k in GAM.
With a hole at right back Orange and Blue fans were expecting one other player to come in as a replacement. However, they were met with a surprise as late Thursday afternoon, it was dually reported by Bogert and Laurel Pfahler, of Queen City Press, that Brenner would be returning to the Queen City. The striker, a leader of the 2022 attack, had struggled at Udinese in Italy and with the familiarity with the staff in Cincinnati decided to make a move back.
The deal was confirmed as a loan just before the 1 AM trade deadline cut off, with Udinese agreeing to pay a portion of the striker’s salary for the season. With 22 Goals and 6 assists in the 2022 campaign, FC Cincinnati will be hoping he can return to that scoring form for the final stretch.
Soon after the Brenner return was announced, it was also reported by Bogert that FCC would fill their hole at right back with an RSL player joining the squad, Dominik Marczuk. The U22 winger joined the Utah squad in 2024 where he became a rotational figure in the team. However, he has been passed over in the Salt Lake squad seeing the field 17 times this season, but not registering a start since May. FC Cincinnati will receive the Polish International on loan for the season, retaining his U22 status, and will have an option to purchase his contract for cash in the winter.
With the window finally closed Chris Albright can take a well earned rest. The FCC General Manager was able to bring in five players over this transfer season, while seeing two players depart the team. Hopefully, this transfer season will enable the squad to make a full push for the end of the season, win the Supporters Shield, and reach the final game of the season with an MLS Cup.
