Mark your calendars! Cincinnati Soccer Talk is back to being LIVE, WEDNESDAY night (3/1) at 8 p.m. with special guest FC Cincinnati Head Coach Alan Koch! We’re absolutely thrilled he’s taking some time from the team’s busy preseason to chat with us on Cincinnati Soccer Talk!
About our guest: Alan Koch (pronounced “Kaw-ch”), who actually has a very good track record as a manager. Koch had his first head coaching experience in 2006 with Baker University where he guided them to the NCAA Regional semifinals in his second year. In 2009 he moved to Simon Fraser University located in Vancouver, British Columbia. While there he received numerous accolades including the A.I.I. Coach of the Year in 2009 & 2010 along with GNAC Conference Coach of the Year in 2010, 2011 & 2012. In 2011 Koch lead Simon Fraser to the first top 25 ranking in NCAA history by a non-American school.
From there Koch helped lead Team Canada to the Bronze Medal match in the 2013 Maccabi Games before ending up with the Vancouver Whitecaps. While with the Whitecaps, Koch’s talents were utilized in many ways, maybe most significantly his ability to identify talent for the MLS side while managing their USL side Whitecaps FC 2. In 2016, Koch led a young Whitecaps 2 squad to the USL Western Conference final.
